Johnson Adds Another All-America Honor to Her Resume

Joanna Johnson earned her second NCAA All-America award of the year.

Sophomore Joanna Johnson concluded her amazing 2008-09 season with another NCAA All-America award by finishing seventh in the 10,000 meters at the NCAA Track & Field Championships on Thursday.

The Chico, California, native and 2008 cross country All-American clocked in at 36:18.20 in the event.

Junior Madeline Schultz also completed four events of the heptathlon on Thursday and sits tied for 17th with 2,514 points. Her best effort of the day came in the high jump as she finished in sixth place after clearing 5-02.25. The NCAC Sprints/Hurdler of the Year will wrap-up the heptathlon tomorrow afternoon by competing in the long jump, javelin and 800 meters.

Senior Nicky Ouellet, who was named the athletics department Female Athlete of the Year earlier in the day, qualified fifth in the 1,500 meter trials. The Dunbarton, New Hampshire, native touched the tape in 4:35.19. Ouellet will look join Johnson as an All-American when the finals of the event get underway on Saturday at approximately 1:30 p.m.
