Naperville, Ill. –
In effort to improve on national qualifying marks, select members of the Oberlin College track and field teams were in action on Friday at the North Central College Gregory Invitational.

Unfortunately, no Oberlin athletes were able to improve on the marks they have previously established.

Junior Madeline Schultz did set an NCAA provisional qualifying point total of 4,192 points in the heptathlon to finish fourth overall, but that score is nearly two hundred points back of her NCAC winning total of 4,386. Her best event on the day was the javelin as she took the top spot with a throw of 92-06.

Senior Nicky Ouellet placed second in the 1,500 meters by checking in with a provisional time of 4:37.70. However, the Dunbarton, New Hampshire, native clocked in at 4:34.72 a week ago at the Gator Invite for her top time of the season.

Josh Gallagher placed in 11th in the discus with a hurl of 146-07 and Ryan King missed the qualifying cut in the 1,500 meters by placing 11th in 3:56.98. Solomon Turner was also 1.09 seconds back of a provisional mark in the 400 meters as he stopped the clock in 49.59.

On a side note, senior Kyle Taljan was scratched from the decathlon after just three events.

The Oberlin athletes who have produced provisional qualifying marks throughout the season will wait to hear their fate from the NCAA on Sunday.
