Schultz First; Taljan Second After Day One of the NCAC Combined Events

Madeline Schultz leads the heptathlon field after day one.

Oberlin, Ohio – On day one of the NCAC Combined Events Championships junior Madeline Shultz recorded 2,554 points to sit atop the heptathlon field, while senior Kyle Taljan rests in second in the decathlon with 3,280 points.

Taljan is just 50 points back of Andrew Bloom of Ohio Wesleyan. Schultz's holds a 141-point edge on Jessica Merrill, also of OWU.

Competing at the Hillsdale Invitational, senior Nicky Ouellet set a new school record with an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 4:37.13 in the 1,500 meters, placing second in the event.
