Oberlin, Ohio
– Four Oberlin College women's tennis student-athletes competed for the final time at home on Don Hunsinger Courts this afternoon in an NCAC match versus Allegheny College.

On Senior and Parents' Day the Yeowomen improved to 2-0 in the NCAC and picked up their 12th win of the season this afternoon. The twelve wins is the most by an OC team since 2005.

All three doubles matches were decided by identical 9-7 scores. OC's top pairing of Ariel Lewis and Finley Gates lost to the Gators Lauren Kristofco and Sara Longo.

The Yeowomen filled out the doubles lineup with their four seniors and they came through helping OC to a 2-1 lead following doubles action. Kelly Sipp and Olivia Hayden earned their sixth win at No. 2 besting Elyse Schmitt and Janna Dickerson.

Jane Hayden pairing with fellow senior Sarah Teitelbaum at No. 3 doubles were able to beat Jackie Conrad and Deborah Landau. J. Hayden is an English major with an Art History minor and has contributed over 50 victories to the OC program. Teitelbaum is a Politics major with a minor in Sociology.

Head coach Constantine Ananiadis noted, “This was a big win for our program. We had a lot of respect for Allegheny and played good tennis this afternoon. The win is a big boost to our confidence heading into next weeks match with Denison and will also help our seeding for the conference tournament.”

The Yeowomen would get two fine wins from a couple of first-years at No. 1 and No. 4 singles.

Lewis was a straight set winner over Kristofco (6-2, 6-3) earning her 17th win in the top spot. Nattie Chan was challenged in the first set by Dickerson before easily upsetting her in the second, (7-5, 6-2).

Captain Olivia Hayden, a Politics and French double major is just shy of 100 career singles and doubles victories with today's performance. She was a 6-1, 6-4 winner over Longo as the Yeowomen No. 2.

As a double winner today Kelly Sipp now has 70 career victories. She is an Economics major with a Sociology minor. After dropping the first set 6-1 to Schmitt, Sipp rebounded for a 6-0 win in the second set and earned the win at No. 3 with a 6-2 third set.

“Today's atmosphere was great, there was a good crowd and lots of our parents were here this weekend. This was a good day for our seniors,” commented Ananiadis.

Oberlin (12-9) is back in action next Friday as they travel to Granville, Ohio to face fifth ranked Denison University at 4:30 p.m.
