Oberlin Runs Well at All-Ohio Championships

Delaware, Ohio – The Oberlin College men's track and field finished in sixth place with 41 points, while the Yeowomen ended eighth with 50.5 points at the 20-team All-Ohio Championships on Saturday.

“This was a great day all the way around,” director of track and field Ray Appenheimer said. “We turned in many strong performances and I was proud of the effort our athletes gave today.”

Senior Nicky Ouellet continued to impress as she won the 1,500 meters in 4:43.28. The distance specialist also took second in the 800 with a time of 2:18.15.

Madeline Schultz had a fine day, placing second in the 400-meter hurdles with a mark of 1:04.41. She also tied for third in the high jump by covering 5-00.25.

Junior Cordelia Revells registered a fine run in the 5,000 meters as she finished fifth with a time of 18:36.93.

Sophomore Laura Vernon cleared 10-02 in the pole vault – earning seventh place in the event.

On the men's side, sophomore Justin Warner and senior Everett Schlawin finished in second and third, respectively, in the 10,000 meters. Warner touched the tape in the 32.13.89, while Schlawin followed at 32:21.32.

First-year Stephen Williams completed the 3,000 meter steeplechase in third place with a time of 9:39.26.

Sophomore Josh Gallagher hurled the discus 148-06 to finish in fifth place.

Seth Wimberly (49.93) finish fourth in the 400 and Shawn Chrapacznski (22.43) ended sixth in the 200.

Oberlin returns to action next Saturday at Kenyon College.
