Final Results
Crawfordsville, Ind. – Oberlin's
Ben Godlove and
Joe Leffler earned their first win of the season at No. 1 doubles during day two action of the GLCA's against the top Wabash College duo.
The Yeomen, down 0-2 after losing at No. 2 and 3 doubles, earned their only point of the day with Godlove and Leffler's 8-4 win.
The top OC pairing took a 4-3 lead and never looked back as they would win four of the last five games vs. Jay Horrey and Sean Clerget.
Adam Shoemaker, the Yeomen head coach said, “Ben and Joe played their best tennis today. They were able to put everything together from start to finish and beat a good Wabash team. Each one of them did what was necessary to earn points and win the match.
James Blankenship and
Sam Towne were a tight match early in the No. 3 spot, trailing 3-4, they would add another game to their total but were bested by the Little Giants' Zack Lowry and Evan Bayless 8-4.
The Yeomen and Little Giants squared off indoors this morning and would play to decision. Wabash earned a quick win at No. 3 singles but found stiffer competition from Godlove at No. 1 and Blankenship at No. 5.
Horrey, Wabash's ace earned a 6-3, 6-4 win over Godlove. Ian Sequeira and Blankenship were the final match to be finish and the Little Giants fifth team point came from a 6-3, 6-1 win .
The Yeomen return to Oberlin and Don Hunsinger Courts Monday, April 13 with a match-up against Denison University at 4:30 p.m.
