Springfield, Ohio – A strong second half by the Wittenberg Tigers propelled them a 13-4 win over Oberlin College in North Coast Athletic Conference men's lacrosse action on Saturday.

It was a defensive struggle in the first 30 minutes of play as the Tigers led just 4-2 at the break. Wittenberg triggered just 21 shots over the first two quarters, but fired off 21 alone in the third period as they scored five times and never looked back.

Oberlin (1-7, 0-3 NCAC) managed just one goal in each of the four sessions. Senior Jesse Kane and sophomore Rob Bond each recorded one score, while rookie Theo Anthony found the back of the cage two times.

The Yeomen were hurt in the hustle stats as Wittenberg scooped up 41 ground balls, compared to just 23 for Oberlin and the Tigers also won 14 of the game's 21 face-offs.

Rookie goalie Jon Weisburst turned away 16 shots on the day for his fourth double-digit saves performance of the season.

Oberlin will look to bounce when the College of Wooster comes to town on Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m.
