Adrian, Mich. – Adrian College scored six goals in each of the first two periods as they cruised to a 21-8 win over the Oberlin College men's lacrosse team on Sunday afternoon.
The Yeomen offense was led by sophomore
Nick Thypin-Bermeo as he netted a career-high four goals to go along with four ground balls. Senior Jesse Kane also added two goals in the loss.
Oberlin trailed 2-1 in the early going as
Kif Leswing notched the team's first goal of the season at the 12:12 mark of the first period with an assist coming from
Rob Bond. Unfortunately, the Bulldogs ripped off six of the next seven goals of the game and never looked back.
The Yeomen (0-1) did fare well on face-off opportunities, winning 20-of-31 chances and were successful on 8-of-9 clear attempts.
Shots were about even with Adrian firing off 36 attempts compared to 34 for the Yeomen. However, Oberlin was hindered on the scoreboard by converting just 2-of-5 man-up chances.
Freshman
Jon Weisburst got the start in goal and totaled six saves.
Oberlin will have its home on Wednesday night when they play host to Washington & Jefferson at 6 p.m.
