Holland, Michigan
– The Oberlin College Yeomen fought hard from top to bottom this afternoon at the DeWitt Tennis Center, yet were unable to find answers for the strong Flying Dutchmen squad of Hope College who earned an 8-1 win.

The Yeomen started the day a little slow with no doubles pairing able to take more than two games from the Dutchmen. Junior Ben Godlove made his second appearance in as many matches with partner Joe Leffler after returning from an injury.

OC would put together solid efforts at all six singles slots. Godlove, back in the No. 1 spot allowed head coach Adam Shoemaker some flexibility in his line up. Godlove defeated Hope's Jeff Vredenberg 7-5, 6-4 earning the lone win on the afternoon for the Yeomen.

Leffler, hitting at No. 2, pushed Michael Gardner to a three set match. After dropping the first set 7-6 (7-4) Leffler was able to even the match at one set apiece winning the second (6-4) before falling short in the third set.

Oberlin's No. 5 and No. 6 hitters put in solid efforts. Kempton, Pa. freshman, Sam Towne and Brad Boelkins trades games in both sets with the Dutchmen's Boelkins earning a 6-3, 6-2 win. Fellow first-year Peder Davis fell to Jon Lantz 6-3, 6-4.

Oberlin takes a break from the court until Saturday, March 14. The Yeomen will use the week of preparation to ready themselves for the visiting Wolverines of Grove City College for an 11:30 a.m. match up.
