Final Results
Hilton Head, S.C. – The Oberlin College women's tennis team began their spring break action with a match versus the 16th ranked team in the country this afternoon. The Yeowomen, playing the first of four matches in a four-day stretch fell to DePauw, 9-0.
Oberlin's doubles pairings faced a stiff challenge as they squared off against the 2nd and 11th ranked DePauw duos at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles, respectively.
Today's line-up had OC's first-year partnership of
Ariel Lewis and
Finley Gates in the No. 1 slot against the Tigers' Greer Mackie and Kayla Smith who prevailed 8-4.

Constantine Ananiadis said, “Our doubles teams played well, probably the best they have competed all year. It is a positive start to our time here. DePauw is a good team and the matches were better than the scores indicate.”
The Tigers took victories from all six singles spots as well. Lewis faced Janelle Arita, ranked 5th in the Central Region in singles. The two battled early with Arita taking the first set 6-3. Lewis was able to close an early deficit to a 4-5 score before the Tigers' No. 1 took the match 6-4.
Senior
Olivia Hayden matched up with another of DePauw's regionally ranked players. Mackie, 22nd in the region, outlasted Hayden 6-2, 6-2.
Oberlin gets back to the court tomorrow with a pair of dual matches. The Yeowomen (8-5) face Division II West Virginia State University at 8 a.m. and then challenge the University of Sioux Falls at 4 p.m.
