Oberlin, Ohio –
In a meet that lasted that into the wee hours of Saturday morning, both the men's and women's track and field teams finished second at their own Crimson & Gold Invitational.

The Yeomen, who registered 114 points as a team, set new school records in the 4x200-meter relay and the 4x400-meter relay.

The foursome of Edwin Takahashi, Solomon Turner, Shawn Chrapczynski and Seth Wimberly that broke the school record in the 4x200 last week with a time of 1:32.95, shaved four tenths of a second off that mark on Friday night by completing the course in 1:32.55 to win the event.

Wimberly, Reshard El-Shair, Peter Morris and Solomon Turner clocked in at 3:26.28 in the 4x400 – besting the old school record of 3:27.37 that was set in 2002.

Turner also matched Edo Bedzra's school record of 6.57 in the 55-meter dash to finish second overall.

“These kids just ran great and performed so well tonight,” head coach Ray Appenheimer said. “This was a good meet with stiff competition from nine teams and our team did a good job of responding to the level of their opponents.”

The Yeowomen, who tallied 119.5 points, also turned in some solid performances on the night.

Sophomore Amanda Miller claimed the top spot in the 300-meter run with a mark of 43.95.

Senior Nicky Ouellet blistered the field in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:20.59 to add another win for the Yeowomen.

Fellow senior Madeline Schultz recorded a lifetime-best jump of 5-01.75 in the high jump to finish second overall.

Walsh University (144) won the event on the women's side, while Heidelberg College (169.5) was victorious on the men's end.

Oberlin returns to action next Friday when it plays host to the Oberlin Winter Classic.
