Oberlin Completes Greater Cleveland Indoor Championships

In one of their final meets before the NCAC Championships, the Oberlin College track and field teams performed well at the Greater Cleveland Indoor Championships at Baldwin-Wallace College on Friday night.

“This a was good meet for us against some good competition,” head coach Ray Appenheimer said. “We still have a lot of things to improve on before conference, but I am confident we will be able to get our goals accomplished.”

Senior Conor Doss led the Yeomen by winning the mile run with a time of 4:23.94. Teammate Stephen Williams followed closely behind at 4:24.63 to place fourth overall.

Albert Davila turned in a strong performance in the 800 meters with a mark of 2:01.93 to finish in second place.

Josh Gallagher tossed the shot put 47-05 – ending in fifth.

First-year Christine Moore recorded a season-best mark of 3:09.49 in the 1,000-meter run as she crossed the finish line in second place. Teammate Hillary Tipton followed in fourth place with a mark of 3:12.21.

Clara Shaw stopped the clock in 2:25.79 in the 800 meters – good for a new season-best time and a second place finish. She also returned to finish sixth in the mile with a mark of 5:26.15.

Preceding Shaw in the mile was junior Cordelia Revells as she touched the tape in 5:23.36 – finishing fourth.

As a team the Yeowomen placed sixth in the eight-team field with 45 points. The Yeomen earned 80 points to end in fourth. Notre Dame College men (168) and women (130) each won the meet.

Select Oberlin athletes will compete tomorrow at Kent State University. The entire team will be back in action a week from tonight as they play host to the Oberlin Last Chance Qualifier on February 27 at 6 p.m.
