Ryan King set a new school record in the mile run and the Yeomen also broke the record in the 4x200-meter relay for the third time this season to highlight the All-Ohio Championship meet for Oberlin.
“It was good to see some records fall, but we still have a lot of work to do before the conference meet,” associate head coach
Jason Hudson said. “We need to work on our mental toughness, but we will be better in three weeks for conference.”
King clocked in at 4:20.61 in the mile run to finish third in the event and best his own school record of 4:22.69 that he sent in 2007.
The foursome of
Reshard El-Shair,
Solomon Turner,
Shawn Chrapczynski and
Seth Wimberly improved on the school record in the 4x200 with a mark of 1:32.21 to finish fifth in the event.
Josh Gallagher also checked in with a personal-best toss of 48 feet in the shot put.
As a team the Yeomen placed eighth out of 20 teams with 30 points.
On the women's side
Hillary Tipton won her heat of the mile run with a time of 5:25.28 to finish seventh overall.
Clara Shaw also won her heat in the 800-meters with a time of 2:28.02 – good for sixth place.
The Yeowomen placed 12th in the 18-team field with 11 points.
The track and field teams return to action next Friday at 4:30 p.m. on the campus of Baldwin-Wallace.
