Boston, Mass. – Sophomore
Joanna Johnson and senior
Nicky Ouellet didn't disappoint during their trip to the Boston University Invitational as they each recorded new school records at the meet.
“These two athletes are truly special and displayed their great athletic ability here tonight,” director of track and field
Ray Appenheimer said.
Ouellet, a native of Dunbarton, New Hampshire, completed one mile with an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 5:01.19. Her new Oberlin-best mark tops that of Flannery Cerbin, who clocked in at 5:05.23 in 2007.
Johnson, a NCAA All-American in cross country, will look to match that feat on the indoor track this winter as she posted an NCAA provisional mark of 17:24.84 in the 5,000-meters to finish fourth in her heat. The remarkable run is over 30 seconds faster than the previous OC best, which was held by Laura Feeney since 2003.
The women will make the long trek back to Ohio to join the rest of their teammates as they compete at the All-Ohio Championships tomorrow on the campus of Otterbein College.
