Granville, Ohio - On a sloppy, cold, autumn evening in Central Ohio, the Oberlin men's soccer team was unable to find the back of the net, and ultimately fell on the road against Denison, 2-0.
Playing on the turf, even, back and forth play dominated the better part of the first half. Oberlin came on strong over the last ten minutes of the half earning a couple of scoring opportunities, but they were unable to break the goal line. Despite making a strong push at the end of the half, Oberlin and Denison were even in almost every statistical category, including goals scored, 0-0.
The home team opened up the second half in attack mode and it paid off as Tucker Maude scored for the Big Red off a rebound back into the box. The goal, just three minutes into the period, swayed all of the momentum back in Denison's favor.
Oberlin never really recovered after trailing to Denison and the rest of the game was controlled by the home squad. Maude added a second goal with just minutes to play that sealed the conference victory for Denison.
Oberlin was outshot on the day 16-10, and the Yeomen were only able to get four shots on target in the game. Zach Lipshutz once again went the distance for Oberlin in net, facing 15 shots and making three saves.
Oberlin will be looking to ge their second conference win on Wednesday when they play host to the Gators at Allegheny College. The scheduled start time is 7 pm (EST).
