Final Results
Granville, Ohio – The Oberlin College men's track and field team broke three school records en route to claiming a third-place finish at the NCAC Relays in Granville, Ohio on Saturday.
“This was a good meet for us and of course it was nice to see some records fall,” head coach
Ray Appenheimer said. “Our season is progressing along nicely and we are looking forward to getting even better as we go on.”
Senior
Conor Doss claimed his second school record in as many weeks after clocking in at 15:19.20 in the 5,000-meter run to finish fifth in the event. His time bested that of Alex Dawe by over five seconds as his time of 15.26.90 in 1995 is no longer atop the OC record book.
The 4x200-meter relay team of Edwin Takahashi,
Solomon Turner,
Shawn Chrapczynski and
Seth Wimberly completed the course in 1:32.95 to set new Oberlin all-time best mark and finish second in the event.
In the distance medley relay, the foursome of
Ryan King,
Thomas Shaw,
Albert Davila and
Stephen Williams combined to post a time of 10:42.34 to record the third school record of the day, while finishing in fifth place.
As a team the Yeomen totaled 57.5 points. Ohio Wesleyan won the meet with 89.5 points.
On the women's side, senior
Ali Gemma won the women's long jump with a mark of 15-09.5.
The clique of
Nicky Ouellet,
Hillary Tipton,
Marissa Kennedy and
Kathleen Cann won the 4x800-meter relay with a mark of 10:21.93.
Ouellet,
Anna Frackman, Cann and
Joanna Johnson went on to win the distance medley relay in 13:02.17.
As team the Yeowomen ended in fifth place with 46.5 points. The Battling Bishops women took the top spot with 102 points.
Oberlin returns to action on Friday night when it plays host to the Crimson and Gold Invitational at the John W. Heisman Field House. All the action is set to begin at 6 p.m.
