Final Results
January 23 – Senior
Conor Doss established a new school record in the 3,000-meter run to highlight a successful night for the Oberlin College track and field team at the Baldwin-Wallace Mid-January Invite.
Doss, a native of Albuquerque, New Mexico, won the 3,000-meter event with a time of 8:51.04 – besting Seth Johnson's time of 8:51.69 that was recorded back in 1994.
The Yeomen foursome of
Kyle Taljan,
Seth Wimberly,
Solomon Turner and
Shawn Chrapczynski were victorious in the 4x400-meter relay with a mark of 3:30.51.
Wimberly also finished second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.91 and ran the anchor leg of the second-place 4x200-meter relay team (1:33.97).
Turner added to his strong performance with a lifetime-best performance of 6.70 in the 55-meter dash and also ran second on the 4x200 relay squad.
Sophomore
Joanna Johnson claimed the top spot in the 3,000-meter run by completing the course in 10:31.73, while teammate
Nicky Ouellet followed in second with a mark of 10:35.43.
Like the men, the Yeowomen also registered a win in the 4x400-meter relay. The tandem of
Amanda Miller,
Laura Vernon,
Ali Gemma and
Madeline Schultz stopped the clock at 4:14.36. The clique also placed second in the 4x200-meter relay in 1:51.
Gemma also added an individual win in the 200-meter dash by touching the tape in 28.32.
Schultz turned in an outstanding overall effort as she added personal-best marks in the high jump (5-01) and 55-meter hurdles (9.89).
Oberlin returns to action on Saturday, January 31, at the NCAC Relays.
