Yeowomen Stay Unbeaten with Tough 1-1 Draw

Box Score

Sept. 6
- The Oberlin College Women's Soccer team looked to build upon their winning ways taking their 2-0 record on the road to face Heidelberg College. The Yeowomen struck first when Lois Immerman scored her first goal of the season and gave OC an early 1-0 lead. The unassisted goal came with 22:06 on the clock as Immerman chipped the ball over the goalies' head from the left side of the field.

Oberlin held the lead for nearly forty minutes before Heidelberg was able to get an equalizer in the 60th minute. The 1-1 score would hold steady as the two teams finished regulation and battled through two intense overtime periods.

The Yeowomen were able escape from Tiffin, Ohio with a tie despite being outshot by Heidelberg 15-8. Oberlin goalie Sarah Grabinski was able to save eight of the nine shots on goal she faced, including one that helped send the game to a second overtime period.

The draw moves Oberlin's season record to 2-0-1, while Heidelberg sits at 1-2-1 on the year. After today's grueling contest the Yeowomen will have just a couple of days to recover before squaring off against their third Ohio Athletic Conference opponent of the season. OC will once again put their unbeaten record on the line when they welcome Baldwin-Wallace to Oberlin on Wednesday, September 10 at 4 pm.
