Missed opportunities and untimely defensive breakdowns plagued the Oberlin College women's soccer team as they were dealt a 3-1 defeat by Adrian College on Saturday afternoon.

“I was happy with the way we played on attack,” head coach Kristen Hayden said. “Unfortunately we just couldn't convert many of the opportunities we had.”

After falling behind 1-0 13:34 into match, sophomore Veronica Fusco responded with her team-leading third goal of the season with an assist coming from Liza Marshall to tie things up at 1-1 at the 27:10 mark.

The score would remain that way until 62:21 when the Bulldogs' Sarah Evans netted her second of three goals on the day before tacking on an insurance goal in the game's closing minutes.

Adrian had an 8-4 advantage on shots on goal and also took five corner kicks compared to just one for the Yeowomen.

Christie Zelnik got her second-straight start in goal, registering four saves through the first 45 minutes before giving way to Sarah Grabinski in the second session.

After starting 2-0-1, the Yeowomen have dropped two straight games, but will look to get back to their winning ways when they play host to John Carroll on Thursday night at 7 p.m.
