Complete Day One Results

December 5 – Select members of the Oberlin College track and field teams began their 2008-09 indoor season on Friday night at the Kent State Golden Flash Gala.

Junior Madeline Schultz tallied 2,890 points in the pentathlon to finish 12th overall, but was the second-highest Division III placer. Her time of 2:20.51 in the 800-meter run earned her a second-place finish in the event.

Second-year sensation Josh Gallagher established a new school recorded in the weight throw with a toss of 39-11.50.

Senior Ali Gemma turned in a strong performance in the women's long jump – covering 16-04.5 to finish 10th overall.

Sophomore Laura Vernon ended in a tie for 11th in the pole vault after clearing 9-10.00.

A full slate of events will get underway tomorrow morning at 10 a.m.
