Men & Women Sit in Seventh at Wooster Invite

The Oberlin College men's and women's swimming and diving teams each rest in seventh place after day one of the Wooster Invitational.

“We got off to a little bit of a slow start, but were able to put together some good swims before the night was over,” head coach Mark Fino said. “We are going to try to build off that momentum over the next two days.

Senior Scott McInerney had a season-best effort in the 50-yard free during the prelim session with a time of 21.47 and returned later in the night to take second place in the event.

First-year Nick Lashway recorded a lifetime-best mark in the 200-yard IM – touching in at 1:58.11 - finishing second in the event.

Fellow rookie, Dimitri Macris also had personal-best in the prelims of the 500-yard free – checking in at 4:51.14 before to earning a second-place finish during the finals.

As a team, the Yeomen finished the day with 230 points.

Sophomore Sara Kadi posted a season-best time of 2:12.75 in the 200-yard IM – finishing second overall.

Senior Bryne Ulmschneider placed second in the 500-yard free after completing the course in 5:24.66.

As a team, the Yeowomen totaled 190 points through 10 events.

Day two of the Wooster Invite will get underway tomorrow morning with prelims set for 10 a.m.
