October 4 – The Oberlin College men's soccer team put on an offensive showcase with seven goals in shutout victory over Earlham on Saturday afternoon at Fred Shults Field.
Skyler Dum led the barrage with three goals to earn his first hat trick of the season and increase his team-leading total to eight on the season.
Chris Campbell deposited a pair of goals of his own, while first-year
Oliver Miller-Farrell dished out three assists and scored his second goal of the year.
“This game proved how explosive our offense can be when we finish,” head coach
Blake New said. “The last few games we have had multiple scoring opportunities that we just missed, but today we took advantage of almost all of them.”
The Yeomen scored twice within a minute and never looked back as they put an end to a mini two-game losing skid. The first goal came from Dum at 35:59 when he followed his own missed but cashed in off the rebound. Then just moments later first-year
Wyatt Hayman converted a corner kick from Farrell to give the Yeomen a 2-0 edge just 11 minutes into the game.
Oberlin (7-5, 1-1 NCAC) led 4-0 at the break and out-shot the Quakers 11-0 in the first 45 minutes and 21-3 for the game.
Derrick Bean made his first start of the season in goal, registering two saves in 84 minutes of work.
Oberlin returns to action under the lights on Tuesday night when it plays host to The College of Wooster at 7 p.m.
