October 18 – After a slow start, the Oberlin College women's soccer time came out with a vengeance in the second half, but their efforts came up just short as they suffered a 3-1 setback at the hands of Wittenberg College.
“Our effort and intensity really picked up in the second half,” head coach Kristen Hayden said. “I was proud of the way we responded after some adversity in the first half.”
Oberlin surrendered two first-half goals, but got right back in the match just 2:47 into the second session when
Lori Sako notched her first goal of the session after receiving a cross from
Lois Immerman.
The Yeowomen continued to fight and controlled possession for the majority of the half, but unfortunately could not find the back of net again. Wittenberg added a late insurance goal to seal the win.
Sarah Grabinski had a strong effort in goal, turning away eight shots by the Tigers.
Oberlin hopes for a friendly fate on Wednesday at 4 p.m. when the College of Wooster invades Fred Shults Field.
