Wyatt Hayman scored his third goal of the season on Saturday.
Box Score

October 11
– Two goals in the game's final minutes were not enough as the Oberlin College men's soccer team fell to nationally-ranked Wittenberg, 3-2, on Saturday night in Springfield, Ohio.

Wittenberg (12-0, 3-0 NCAC) jumped out a 2-0 lead at the half and added another goal just 13 minutes into the second stanza, but the Yeomen's never-say-die attitude would not let them go down without a fight.

After being held scoreless for 85 minutes, sophomore Evan Atwell got the Yeomen on the board with his fourth goal of the season – good for second best on the team.

With the Yeomen still down two, they continued to fight for possession as they tried to claw back into the match. Offensive-minded defenseman Wyatt Hayman cashed in his third goal of the season with just 30 ticks left on the clock, but the Yeomen ran out of time before having a chance to force overtime.

Oberlin (7-7, 1-3 NCAC) was out-shot 13-6, but was nearly even on corners with Wittenberg having a slight 7-6 edge. The match was played pretty physical on both sides as Oberlin committed 17 fouls compared to 12 for the Tigers.

After missing the last two outings, Zach Lipshultz returned to his normal spot in goal – registering four saves on the night.

The Yeomen will look to get back on track on Wednesday night when they travel south to take on Ohio Wesleyan at 7:30 p.m.
