Yeowomen Bested by Fredonia, 2-0

Box Score

October 1 –
Fredonia scored twice in the first half and made that stand up the entire 90 minutes as they defeated the Oberlin College women's soccer team 2-0 on Wednesday night.

The Blue Devils controlled the run of play throughout, firing 23 shots compared to just seven for the visiting Yeowomen. However, just six Fredonia shots were on goal while Oberlin triggered four on the net.

"We played really well," head coach Kristen Hayden said. "They just broke us a down a few times on defense and were able to capitalize."

Lauren Heilwell scored twice in a five-minute span towards the end of the first half and was assisted by Kaleigh Vogan on both goals with the first coming at the 37:22 mark.

First-year Kelsey Atkinson got her second-career start in goal for the Yeowomen and totaled four saves in the game.

Fredonia took 12 corner kicks in the match, while Oberlin was held without a corner kick for just the second time this season.

The Yeowomen hope to bounce back on Saturday at noon when they play host to conference rival Earlham.
