SHELBY OLIVER, CLASS OF 1935, lettered in track and football and was a member of the basketball team as well as the glee club while enjoying his days at Oberlin. Oliver received the AB in pre-med from Oberlin and retired as a physician in California. The fond memories Shelby Oliver has for the time he spent at Oberlin have become a spring of opportunity for the department of athletics and physical education. Over the years, Dr. Oliver has provided leadership and support for the department, including the endowment of the Delta Lodge/Oliver Director of Athletics position in recognition of his years at Delta House, a traditional college residence for student-athletes the 1920s, ë30s and ë40s. In addition, he has provided assistance to athletic facility projects such as the Heisman Club Field House and the Heisman Room.
