Udell H. Stallings was born in Alhambra, Illinois, and came to Oberlin in 1918. He was eligible for varsity football as a freshman and he became one of the first to receive four varsity letters in that sport. He was named to the All-Ohio football team as left tackle in 1919, 1920, and 1921, and he was captain of the Oberlin Team that defeated Ohio State 7-6 in 1921. Udell Stallings was a teacher of team play, honesty, and integrity. He had a love for young people, and teaching them was a way of life as he saw it was very important to him. He had a great impact on many, many people.
