A three-year standout on the pitch, Tommy Tong helped guide the Yeomen to a 21-6 record while leading the team in scoring in each of his three years.
A two-time All-American, Tong earned All-Ohio honors in each of his three seasons, which featured three wins over The Ohio State University by the aggregate score of 20-4.
Known for his fluent play, Tong's teammates often referred to him as a magician due to his prolific passing skills and deadly shooting ability. A former teammate of Tong's said, "Of all the players I have ever played with, Tommy had the uncanny ability to see the whole field and anticipate what was about to happen before it ever did, thus putting him in the right place at the right time. He was able to do what was needed in any situation on the field."
After graduating from Oberlin with degrees in chemistry and zoology, Tong went on to earn a master's of science from Creighton University and later attended Columbia University where he earned his doctor of dental surgery degree, specializing in Prosthodontics.
A member of Omicon Kappa Upsilon, which is the national honor society for dentistry, Tong taught at Columbia's School of Dental Medicine and he has had his own private practice since 1973.
Tong is married to his wife, Lily, and together they have a daughter, Denise.
