Todd Portune, Class of '80, was a member of the track, football, and cross country teams during his tenure at Oberlin. He earned three letters in football (1977-79), four letters in track (1977-80), and one letter in cross country (1976), and was captain of the track and field teams.

While a member of the Oberlin track team, Portune set seven school records and earned All-Ohio Athletic Conference honors eight times. In 1979 he was the OAC indoor 880-yard champion and the Great Lakes Conference champion in the 800 meters outdoors. Portune was voted the team's most valuable distance runner in 1978 and the team's most valuable performer in 1979 and 1980. His outdoor record of 1:54.4 in the 800 still stands.

A defensive standout on the Oberlin football team, he was named the Yeomen's most valuable defensive back in 1979. He was also honored by the OAC as the defensive player of the week for play against Case Western Reserve in 1979. A government major at Oberlin, Portune went on to study law at the University of Cincinnati College of Law and became a practicing civil litigator and partner in the Cincinnati law firm of Cohen, Todd, Kite, and Stanford.

He currently serves as a Hamilton County Commissioner in Cincinnati.
