Thomas Geiger, Jr., was a four-year letterman and two-time team captain of the Oberlin College swimming and diving team. The crowning moment of his career came as a senior, when he earned All-America honors in the 1,650-yard freestyle with a ninth-place finish.
A former school record-holder in the 500-, 1,000- and, 1,650-yard freestyle events, Geiger was a Great Lakes Athletic Conference champion in the 1,000- and 500-yard events in 1974. Throughout all four years of his career he placed in the top six in the 500, 1,650 and 800-yard free relay at the Ohio Athletic Conference championship meet (1973-76).
Geiger, who majored in history and economics at Oberlin, served on the board at Lourdes University (2005-14). He and his wife, Paulette, who graduated from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music in 1977, have three children.
Geiger resides in Rossford, Ohio. He has worked at Capital Tire Inc. since 1976 and has served as the company’s president since 1986.
