Sidney F. Bellows, a member of the Class of 1905, earned six varsity letters-four in track and two in football. He played left tackle and punter on the football team and was team captain in 1903 and 1904. As a member of the track team he competed in the hurdles and high jump and served as team captain in 1905. In 1903 he set the school record in the high jump clearing 5 feet 10.5 inches. At the first Ohio Intercollegiate Athletic Association meet in 1903, Bellows won the 220-yard hurdles, the high jump, and placed second in the 120-yard hurdles. During his four seasons on the Yeomen track team, Bellows set five Ohio Intercollegiate Athletic Association records and won seven Ohio Athletic Conference titles.
