She won the triple jump crown at the NCAC Indoor Championship in each of her four years, claiming NCAC Indoor Field Athlete of the Year honors as a senior in 2004. At the meet she qualified for the NCAA Championships in the triple jump with a mark of 36-07.75 and also

In her first year on campus, Houlihan set a then-NCAC record in the triple jump by covering 36-11 to earn a trip to nationals. It stood as an Oberlin school record until February 13, 2016, when Annie Goodridge bested her mark.
A two-time national qualifier, Houlihan concluded her career by earning her fifth NCAC title, winning the outdoor triple jump (35-04). Houlihan was also a three-time letter-winner in field hockey (2001-2003) and served as team captain during her senior season. She helped the
team secure 31 victories during her tenure with the Yeowomen.
