Sarah Cox Marshall, one of the most talented and successful distance runners ever to compete for Oberlin, Marshall earned 12 letters in cross country, indoor and outdoor track and was team captain during 11 of the 12 seasons she competed. She was honored as one of the North Coast Athletic Conference's all-time best when she was named to the NCAC Cross Country All-Decade Team. Marshall received three first-team all-conference designations and helped lead Oberlin to the inaugural NCAC cross country team championship in 1984. She finished second in 1983, ninth in 1984, third in 1985, and fourth in 1986. Marshall competed in four regional championships placing second overall in 1985. She qualified for the NCAA championships during her sophomore and junior years placing 73rd and 64th respectively. Marshall earned all-conference honors six times in track and was the NCAC indoor two-mile champion in 1985 and outdoor 3,000-meter champion in 1987. She qualified for the NCAA championship in the 3,000 meters in 1985 and still holds the Oberlin varsity records in the indoor mile (5:19.2), indoor two mile (11:18.4) and outdoor 3,000 meters (10:13.0). Sarah is married to Nick Marshall, Class of '86, and resides in Davis, California, with their son Max. She majored in psychology and sociology at Oberlin and earned a master's in psychology from Harvard University in 1991. She received her Ph. D. in clinical psychology in 1994 and is currently a postdoctoral fellow in nueropsychology at the University of California, Davis Medical Center.
