Ronald "Chip" Winiarski, a member of the class of 1990, earned four varsity letters in basketball and four in baseball. Winiarski is Oberlin's most prolific scorer and one of the college's best pitchers. While at Oberlin, Winiarski earned All-Conference honors each season in both sports and was an All-American candidate as well. As a freshman, Winiarski led the nation in scoring in all divisions with 24.8 points per game and threw the only shut out in baseball. He ranks first in Oberlin history and second all time in the NCAC in scoring with 2, 303 points. Winiarski is fifth all-time in the NCAC in lowest earned run average with 1.47. He currently holds 12 Oberlin School records in basketball. After receiving his B.A. in Chemistry and Sports Medicine, Winiarski was drafted by the Cleveland Indians and played two years in Cleveland's minor league system. He then was picked up by the Chicago White Sox and spent two years with the organization. Winiarski then left professional baseball and now works for Applied Industrial Technologies. Winiarski is still involved with baseball as a pitching coach, and giving lessons to aspiring young pitchers at Diamond One Sports. Winiarski is a member of the Young Life-Nondenominational Youth Ministry of the United States. He is also a member of the National Food Processors Institute, Arkansas Poultry Federation, American Mat Institute and American Institute of Banking. Winiarski and his wife, Mayda, reside in Bay Village with their daughter Brynne. The couple is expecting their second child at anytime now.
