Ron Stevenson, considered one of the all-time greats in Oberlin football history, Stevenson earned four varsity letters and missed only one game in four seasons. A government and communications major, Stevenson was scouted by several professional football organizations including the Cleveland Browns, Dallas Cowboys, and Los Angeles Raiders. Stevenson was the first Yeomen to rush for 1,000 yards in a single season and finished his career with a school-record 3,462 yards. A starter in each of his four years at Oberlin, he was named the team's Most Valuable Offensive Back four times. He still holds school records for rushing attempts in a game (46), season (317) and career (865). Stevenson also set the record for net yards rushing in a season (1,220) and is one of six players to score four touchdowns in a game. He was a three-time first-team All-Ohio Athletic Conference selection and an Associated Press "Little All-America" honoree. He led the OAC in rushing two times and his 135.6 yards per game in 1981 ranked fourth in the nation. Presently, Stevenson works at the Department of Rehabilitation and Correction (State of Ohio) Adult Parole Authority Division. In 1988 he was given the Outstanding Young Man of America award. He assisted in authoring several public policy directives for the State of Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction and assisted in developing programs for the State of Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction as well as for the Lorain County Court of Appeals.
