Oberlin College Athletics

Robert T. Kretchmar joined the Oberlin faculty in 1953 and before his death in 1961, he coached the varsity baseball team, advanced to the rank of professor, and undertook a number of endeavors to foster physical activity among Oberlin's youth. His peers referred to Kretchmar as a "modest, friendly, and attractive person who easily won the admiration of his teachers and fellow students. He was continually growing in wisdom and stature and in the favor of God and man."
