Robert Cheney was named All-Ohio three times in soccer, and he earned All-Midwest honors in lacrosse. Only eight goals were scored against the Oberlin soccer team that year, a defensive record that still stands. Cheney received the M.A. degree in guidance from Bowling Green State University in 1964 and in history from the University of Massachusetts in 1986. He has been the varsity coach at Cambridge (New York) Central School for the past 23 years and owns a 201-115-27 record.
