Richard Neal Hinrichs is quite possibly the single most outstanding swimmer in more than 50 years of competitive swimming at Oberlin. He won 10 Ohio Athletic Conference championships in breastroke, individual medley, and medley relays. He was an NCAA All-America selection six times. Additionally, Hinrichs finished third in the 200-breastroke in both '74 and '75. He was an NCAA $1,000 post graduate scholar in 1975 and was a member of the jazz and brass ensembles at Oberlin as well as serving on the WOBC technical staff.
