One of the most prolific running backs in Oberlin College football history, R.V. Carroll '08 left an indelible mark on the program with record-setting performances that still stand today.
The Perry, Ohio, native was a three-time All-North Coast Athletic Conference selection and the 2007 NCAC Offensive Player of the Year. Carroll earned Second-Team All-NCAC honors in 2006 and 2008, All-NCAC First-Team honors in 2007, and in 2006 was named a Third-Team Don Hansen's Football Gazette All-American. In recognition of his dominance on the field, he was later selected to the NCAC All-Decade Team (2013–23).
Carroll's name is etched throughout the Crimson and Gold record book. He is the program's all-time rushing leader with 3,505 career yards, holds the single-season rushing record with 1,280 yards in 2006, and owns three of the top five single-game rushing marks, including a school-record 336-yard performance in a 56–42 victory over Kenyon in 2006. He also set the program record for rushing touchdowns in a game (5), rushing touchdowns in a season (16, 2007), and career rushing touchdowns (39). Carroll remains Oberlin's all-time leader in scoring with program bests for points in a game (30), points in a season (98, 2007), and career points (250).
A 2009 graduate, Carroll went on to build a career in talent acquisition and financial services. He currently serves as a Senior Talent Acquisition Partner at MGT, following previous roles including Senior Loan Officer with RMC Vanguard Mortgage Corp.
