Mark T. Walsh was a standout goalie for both the Oberlin College men’s lacrosse team and ice hockey squad from 1974-1977 and also was the net-minder for the men’s soccer team in 1976.
A four-year letter-winner and two-year co-captain in lacrosse and hockey, Walsh, one of the best cage-dwellers in Oberlin history, earned all-conference honors in lacrosse in 1975 and 1976. During the 1975 season, Walsh led all divisions of the NCAA, with 26.6 saves per game.
Walsh’s skills on the lacrosse field easily transitioned to the ice rink where he also earned four letters as a reliable backstop and to the soccer pitch where he garnered one letter during his lone season. In that year, Walsh registered an .829 saves percentage, which is still among the best in school history.
A double major in sociology and economics, Walsh is a partner in the Albany, N.Y. law firm of Gleason, Dunn, Walsh & O’Shea. He earned his juris doctorate in 1980 from the Albany Law School of Union University where he was a member and editor of the Albany Law Review.
