Karl Herrmann, a member of the class of 1961, Karl Herrmann earned a total of six varsity letters, four in baseball and two in soccer. Herrmann holds the Oberlin College and Ohio Athletic Conference records for the lowest earned run average with 0.29 during the 1961 season. In addition to holding the records, Herrmann had the second lowest ERA in the NCAA during the 1961 season. Hermann also recorded two no-hitters. The first no-hitter was a 1960 game against Mount Union College and the second no-hitter was against The College of Wooster in the 1961 season. Besides playing baseball and soccer, he was involved in the Democratic Mock Convention, intramural sports and the First Church Choir.

After receiving his B.A. in education, Herrmann went on to get his M.E.d. in health education from Penn State University. Hermann served as a soccer coach and baseball coach at Davis and Elkins College from 1961 through 1962. He then went on to become a soccer, baseball and tennis coach at Lock Haven University. In addition to his coaching duties at Lock Haven University, he was an associate professor of health science since 1965.

He inaugurated and organized the first youth soccer program in central Pennsylvania in 1975 and he petitioned, financed, and organized the first high school soccer team in central Pennsylvania at Lock Haven High School in 1981. Herrmann was the president and meet referee for the Lock Haven area swim team from 1974-87.

In 1989 he helped develop the West Branch Soccer Complex . He also, has served as a coach for the Keystone State games. Herrmann and his wife Lynne, reside in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania. The couple have three grown children, Dr. Bonnie Leonard, John Paul and Kurt.
