Following graduation from Oberlin in 1979, Jonathan M. Greer earned a postgraduate scholarship from the NCAA, however, his time on campus was something to be remembered. As a senior he earned NCAA First-Team All-America honors in the 50-yard freestyle and was also tabbed as an Academic All-American. He was a two-time Ohio Athletic Conference Champion in the 100-yard breaststroke and had multiple top-five finishes at the conference meet. He held the school record in the 50-yard free for 14 years and his time of 21.64 still ranks fourth on the all-time list.
