Joe R. Horn won three letters in basketball, three in football, and three in lacrosse. Oberlin co-captain and leading scorer in the United States in lacrosse in 1960, Horn played midfielder for coach Clif Stevenson. Stevenson described Horn as "the best midfielder there has ever been in the Midwest." Horn was the first Oberlin College player selected to the All-American squad that played in the North-South all-star game at Holy Cross College. In football, Horn earned first team All-Ohio honors as and end and honorable mention to the 1959 "Little All- American team." Horn received the Ph.D. from Penn State (1962) and then returned to Oberlin to coach lacrosse, hockey, and assist in football. He received the Ph.D. in physical education from Ohio State (1976) and is currently teaching health and physical education at Waynesfield (Ohio) High School.
