Glenn Carter graduated from Oberlin in 1951 with an A.B. in economics. Carter played two varsity sports throughout his college career, leading his soccer and swimming teams to nearly perfect seasons. Carter's efforts on the soccer field earned him all-American honorable mention laurels. In a Ripkenesque feat of endurance, Carter played every minute of every game for three years. His teams compiled an impressive 19-4-2 record. Carter was just as dominant in the pool, earning three varsity letters while racking up a Central Collegiate Conference record in the 200-yard backstroke. He also swam the fastest 200-yard backstroke time recorded at Hales, a record that stood untouched until 1962. Carter was undefeated in the backstroke in dual meets. He co-captained the Yeomen in his senior year, wrapping up a three-year dual meet record of 31-1. Carter's Yeomen finished first in the Ohio Conference from 1949-51. After receiving his degree from Oberlin, Carter entered the Naval Air Reserves. In 1953, he began his career in personnel management. He retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. in 1987.
