George Maxwell, an outstanding track and field athlete, ran the high hurdles for Dan Kinsey's track teams at Oberlin and also took part in the broad jump, the high jump, the pole vault, the javelin, and discus. A native of Chicago, Maxwell received his M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania in 1942. After service in the US Army Medical Corps, Maxwell received an M.S. degree in orthopedic surgery from the University of Virginia in 1948. He became a diplomat of the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery in 1950 and has been an orthopedic surgeon in Boulder, Colorado, since 1952.
