Dave Stevenson, a member of the class of 1991 , one of the most celebrated swimmers in Oberlin's history, was an 11-time All-American and three-time North Coast Athletic Conference champion. By the end of his career he had set six individual school records and was a member of two record-setting relay teams. A four-time NCAA qualifier, Stevenson placed second in the 200-yard backstroke, fifth in the 500-yard freestyle, and sixth in the 100-yard backstroke as a senior. He placed fourth in the 200 backstroke as a junior, third as a sophomore and 13th as a freshman. Stevenson was named to the College Swimming Coaches of America All-Academic Team four times. He was named the 1991 John Stern/NCAC Scholar Athlete of the Year and was the recipient of an NCAA Division III post-graduate student-athlete award.
