A three-sport athlete, Robert Burnham competed in football, basketball and track during his years at Oberlin. He earned four letters in both football and basketball, and three in track.

On the gridiron he was tabbed a second-team all-conference selection and was a member of the all-star team. During his freshman and junior campaigns, Burnham was the leading rusher for the Yeomen. Furthermore, he was ranked as one of the top 35 running backs in the Midwest according to Stanley Woodward’s football publication in 1951.

Burnham also served as the freshman class president and on the men’s board during his time at Oberlin. He was active in the YMCA and was a member of the debate club.

After earning his bachelor’s degree in political science, Burnham earned a LLB and an MBA from Harvard. He later became a lawyer, investment banker, and business executive. Burnham has worked as a CEO for various companies including Iron Mountain, Inc., SHC Inc., Nortec and the College Video Group Corporation. He has produced numerous videos including Oberlin Through the Years and 100 Years of Oberlin Football. Burnham is also involved in the Delaware Coalition of Christians and Jews, the Wilmington YMCA Fundraiser, and the Wilmington Economic Development Corporation.
