A four-time North Coast Athletic Conference first-team selection, Mandel was the NCAC Newcomer of the Year and NCAC Player of the Year in 2009. She would add a second Player of the Year plaque in 2012.

A third-team CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-American, Mandel ranked as highly as 17th in the nation in singles while playing nearly exclusively in the top flight.

The winningest player in program history with a combined 158 victories, the Vacaville, California, native was a three-year team captain and was Oberlin's Female Athlete of the Year and NCAC John N. Stern award winner in 2012 before graduating with a degree in creative writing.

Following her time on campus, Mandel went on to earn a master's degree in creative writing from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, and later served as a volunteer assistant coach at Oberlin from 2019-22 while teaching at Hathaway Brown School in Shaker Heights, Ohio.

Mandel, who is married to former Oberlin quarterback Josh Mandel '12, is currently teaching English and creative writing at Ransom Everglades School in Miami, Florida, where she serves as the girls' varsity tennis coach.
