Winston-Salem, N.C. – Oberlin College track and field team concluded the 2014-15 indoor season at the NCAA Championships.
First-year
Monique Newton, competed as the only freshman in a field of 17 competitors in the women's shot put. Newton finished with a toss of 37-09.50 (11.52m) in the first NCAA Championship appearance of her already exciting career.
The Sacramento, California native already owns the program record for the indoor shot put with a mark of 45-08.5 (13.93m) that she hit back in December.
Senior
Carey Lyons ran in the final indoor competition of her decorated career in the women's 3,000-meter. Lyons clocked a time of 10:17.27 to finish 16th overall.
The Yeomen and Yeowomen will open the 2015 outdoor season when they travel to North Carolina for Spring Break. Oberlin will train at University of North Carolina Wilmington before competing in Winthrop University's Winthrop Invitational, March 26-28.
Hopefully winter weather evades the Greater Cleveland area before April 4, when Oberlin is set to host the annual Bob Kahn Invite on the Kahn Track.
