Leclercq Named ITA Central Region Senior of the Year

Skillman, N.J. – Senior Farah Leclercq became the first female in school history to be named Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Central Region Senior Player of the Year, the organization announced on Monday.
 
Leclercq along with the winners from the other three regions will be now be considered for National Senior Player of the Year Award, which will be announced on Wednesday, May 22, at the annual awards dinner that preludes the NCAA Individual Championship Tournament.
 
“This is a tremendous honor for Farah and for our program as a whole,” Head Coach Constantine Ananiadis said. “She has had a very successful season and is truly deserving of this recognition.”
 
Leclercq, who was recently tabbed the North Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Year, was also named as one of three Honda Scholar-Athletes by the athletics department at last Saturday's Obie Awards.
 
She enters the NCAA Individual Championship Tournament ranked No. 4 in the region, having won nine straight matches and 15 of her last 16. Overall she posted a record of 21-7 on the season, playing all but one match in the top spot.
 
The National Individual Tournament will take place May 23-25 at Kalamazoo College's Stowe Stadium and Western Michigan University's Sorensen Courts.
